"Eastern Shore Evening" Memory Painting 9"x12" Oil on Board, originally uploaded by Liquidmethod.
I wish I had stopped on the way back from Easton to take a picture of this house. But I didn't, it was getting late and we were all tired. I tried to paint the house as best as I remembered it. I remember the bushes against the house, the oil tank, roof and most important the colorful clothes on the clothes line. I remember telling Devon that this would be an awesome painting if we had a little more time to wait for the sun to get lower in the sky. Funny thing is, I can't remember much about the clouds, so I based the sky from a photo I took driving home one evening. It'll be interesting to see in late August if the house is close to what I remember it as.
I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. It was a big painting, my 3rd this year and it feels like wearing an new pair of shoes. Of course, long time gaps makes it hard to capture immediacy and looseness with my brushwork. There were some power line poles I left out as it would have felt over worked and too detailed. Looking forward to moving on with a couple of plein air paintings and escape the trappings of a studio!
