This has to be my first proper plein air in gouache and my first also with more than two colors. It's approach is vastly different than oil. Colors dry, no pushing and moving thick paint. On the flip side, it is much more agreeable to me than watercolor. I can layer and cover colors. Using straight to paint works just like I would with oils. I know some use a pencil sketch underneath, but I would have gotten caught up in details that would have been covered up anyways. I'm glad I spent the extra money on designer gouache, which does have some vibrant hues. Moleskine makes a fantastic watercolor notebook. The paper is nice and sturdy and doesn't buckle as other books would have.
